 Project History

In 2007 I came down with Myeloma so I close up the Herbarium and turned it into a non-profit business Alim Herbarium Research Center (DBA) The Alchemist Way a 501(c3) in November 2008

A LOOK BACK

I started as Free and Easy For Somebody Inc. in Detroit, Michigan as Dance Company in 1974.  Its expansion had grown into several different directions.  In 1978, Free and Easy moved to California, and established a manufacturing department, which produces accessories, spiritual products, body products, herbal products and other works of arts.  In 1989 after relocating back to the states I opened up Free &Easy first outlet in Warren Michigan, then in 1990 I moved to a location where I could manufacture my good and products.  In 1998 I closed Free and Easy outlet and let the cooperation go.

The Herbarium was my dream I’ve spent over twenty-five years traveling the world collecting plants, barks, roots, taking photographs and studying people, working hard to see this dream come alive.  In 1998 I, rented a storefront in order to organize the plants and data for the project, which I did on the weekend with the help of my sons and niece.  With coming down with Lupus and not being able to work full time any more, I became more set on research and seeing my dream come true.    In 2000 I started renovating a building by selling my home, and leaping out on faith to make it come true, spending the rest to buy display etc.  So in October 2001 we had our grand opening around eighty people came but out of that I also got a television show called The Alchemist Way and a Radio show called Herb Talk which started airing that November.  Then in the summer of 2002 I team up with City of Detroit Youth Program Leader 4 Life, which came and help log more data for the Herbarium.  With the TV Show it let me show case many of the inner city youth and adults, on the show with their talent and crafts. Also give me the opportunity to have professional on in the field of science and health that help inform the public, and the film became part of the library of the Herbarium.    The show was given a sprit of Detroit award, and the Herbarium was presented an award from Congress.  November 2002 I became a corporation Alim & Company DBA Alim Herbarium DBA The Alchemist Way before I was just using the name I was not a business yet since I was using my on funds.   By not knowing I did not become non-profit, so I team up with CAD a non-profit group with over a hundred members an a youth group and they became my fiduciary.  2007 I closed the Herbarium do to coming down with Cancer and rename it to Alim Herbarium Research Center (DBA) The Alchemist Way, which is now a non-profit 501(c) (3) as of November 2008
